i take 1 mg twice aday and dont feel anything as far as being stressed.should i take more im 50 years old 6ft2in 200lbs is my dose to small

Adults aren't dosed by weight. You're on the average adult dose, and some your size could be zonked out by that dose, while others not feel anything. If its helping your anxiety its the correct dose, if it isn't your doctor needs to know so he can adjust the dosage.

Hello mixerguy. Lorazepam, a benzodiazepine (generic Ativan) in regards to anxiety is taken 1mg two or three times per day. The pill comes in 3 strengths, 0.5mg 1mg and 2mg. It is also prescribed for insomnia. (though not a sleeping benzodiazepine) As for sedation, it is a fast acting benzodiazepine, when taken, you will feel it working possibly minutes after ingesting. You should feel the effects of Lorazapam 20-30 mins after taking it. For some people it can take up to 45 mins, depending on their system. However, because of the slow, subtle effect of the drug, you may not even realize that your feeling it. People confuse the effects of Lorazapam with the effects of Xanax (you WILL feel the effects of Xanax when it starts working), but you can't compare them like that. Even though they are in the same class of drug, they are not the same medication, and the effects are different. Don't ake more Lorazapam than you're prescribed just because you can't 'feel' it; you could hurt yourself. If you don't feel as if the Lorazapam is helping, go back to your Dr. so that he can adjust your dosage or change your medication.

Clonazepam is the best drug for anxiety that is out right now in my opinion. Ativan, only works if you have mild anxiety disorder. Alprazolam (Xanax) is best for short therm, Klonopin (Clonazepam) is best for long term treatment. I can take 16mgs of lorazepam at once and not notice a thing. 2mg clonazepam treats me well.

Oh my! I hope your MD recommended the large dose of medication, this is VERY dangerous!

i know this is a fairly old post but in my presctive, long sufferer of crippling anxiety and insomnia, I'm prescribed 2mg of ativan up to three times a day as neeeded, which is usually twice a day. But thing is the third at bedtime with little effect. So therapist changed me to Xanax which I hated, too too sedating and not much anxiety relief. Ativan has been a good med and my Dr recently started me on digoxin, similar to Seroquel. Seroquel can have more side effects than the other. I'm gonna try it if I doesn't work, Drs happy to put me back on Seroquel which I know works. Just be honest with your doctor and tell him your serious concerns.

For anxiety patient can take 2 to 3mg per day, given 2 to 3 times per day.

What doctor did you find that would prescribe that high of a dose in this day and age? Wow. I only take one mg. the night before a dental procedure, and 1 mg the next morning. And it's a miracle to get a doctor to prescribe that much in this day and time. You need to find some other medication for your situation. Ativan is a rescue med, and not used as a long time medication! There are safer and more effective medications available for what you are describing. Ativan can exacerbate your anxiety if taken long term on a regular basis.

Well to be honest it 0.5 but my pharmacy only has 1 mg I'm suppose to break them in half
